New York State is applying to the federal government for an amendment of its Medicaid 1115 Waiver. In place since the late 1990s, New York’s 1115 waiver is the agreement with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to administer Medicaid Managed Care. Previous amendments have allowed the State to pursue innovative models of care and service delivery through investment in Medicaid, such as the Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) program.
Medicaid Matters published a fact sheet and talking points document for its coalition members and partners to help inform individual and organizational comments on the waiver amendment application. This document includes links to background information on New York’s 1115 waiver, 1115 waivers generally, summaries and commentary on the State’s current amendment application, and more.
On May 20, 2022, Medicaid Matters submitted comments reflective of discussions among coalition members and partners to bring attention to the interests and concerns of consumers, consumer advocates, and community-based organizations related to the State’s application.
On October 14, 2022, Medicaid Matters submitted comments to CMS on the State’s revised amendment application.
